![]() Three new countries/rallies have been added, which means that there are now as many as 16 to choose from (the new countries Japan and Africa are brilliant) and the car range is also good. The game is more well-stocked than WRC 8, but it is noticeable that KT Games has invested in more game modes and deeper settings to tailor the gaming experience rather than any major changes. However, WRC 9 is a rather modest update. Already five years ago, with WRC 7, it was clear that KT Racing was serious about trying to build a credible and deep rally experience and even though the experienced producer Diego Sartori (GTR and GTR 2) left the team shortly after the premiere of WRC 7, the studio has worked hard to constantly make the necessary updates / to approach and compete with the brilliance found in especially Dirt Rally and Dirt Rally 2.0. Fortunately, the official games developed by KT Racing are only getting better and better and this year's edition has, despite a few frustrating points, impressed me quite a bit over the past week. I have personally always loved the WRC but have for the past five years been getting less and less interested, sadly. Something quite drastic, I would have to say. Something else would need to happen here. Sure, it broke a particularly cool TV viewer record in the 2019 season, but considering that Skoda, Peugeot, Subaru, Citroen, and Mitsubishi have all abandoned the sport where they have all been incredibly successful (once upon a time), I think the future looks pretty bleak for the WRC. While I don’t find it too distracting, if they could fix it that would be awesome. The WRC as a sport has had way better days than today. Only complaint is how some shadows are handled on some stages, as they drawn right in front of the car, literally. Lots of features, topnotch gameplay, nice presentation for the Switch, it’s a 9/10 for me. So if you add all that to an already very good game, you simply get the ultimate WRC experience, the best rally game ever released on a handheld, period. ![]() ![]() The Corolla is one of my favorite WRC cars ever, so very happy with that!!! - I might be wrong on this one, but I think lighting has been improved. Some classic cars are available, such as the Corolla (available through DLC), Xsara, and Focus. I attached a couple screenshots so you can get an idea of what’s possible. You even have a showcase mode from the main menu, where you can select the car, weather, etc. This one is pretty nice, all the features you’d expect are there. ![]() Ě photo mode!!!! I just love photo mode in videogames. It really adds a lot to the aesthetics, by “hiding” some of the not-so-pretty assets. Especially on Switch where the surroundings are far from being detailed, with low resolution, etc. This might not seem like a big deal, but during replays it is like night and day with respect to the overall looks of the game. The most important one is that the Argentina stages are now all playable with a perfectly constant 30 fps. Such as the erratic “jump” the car was making before it would get to the start line, or some “missing text” glitch on the reports you got after an event, or those horrendous water splashes showing up before the car would actually touch the water, or in my case being stuck in WRC 2 forever despite performing all the recommended actions and being WRC2 champ multiple times (heard that it was a bug very early on). Main reasons for me are : -Ěll the glitches that I would personally be irritated by, were fixed. I’ve put quite a lot time on WRC 8, and though both games are not that different from each other, I do think that WRC 9 is worth a purchase even if you own the previous installment. I’ve put quite a lot time on WRC 8, and though both I strongly think this game deserves more attention and I’m glad Kylotonn made this port. ![]() I strongly think this game deserves more attention and I’m glad Kylotonn made this port. ![]()
